This Is The Escapee Insider is a weekly-ish newsletter focused on helping those stuck in corporate take back control of their time, money and most importantly, their future.
NOTE: Any escapees and pre-escapees in the Chicagoland area, we are having our first meetup this Thursday in Warrenville (western burbs). Reply to this email for the address. It is free and open to all members and non-members.
I'm committed for the long haul to making The Escapee Collective the bridge for people leaving corporate.
I'm also committed to a shorter-term goal: 500 members by the 4th of July.
(Side note: Claude—my AI assistant—complimented my creativity in tying the "freedom" of the 4th of July to Escapees finding freedom from corporate. I'm not that smart. The 4th of July just felt like a good milestone.)
Here's where I'm NOT going to be patient: executing to hit that number.
I'm being careful not to overreact. But I'm also not going to be overly patient with variables I can change.
The Reality Check
Last week, I had 2 new members sign up.
Not bad. But it won't get me to 500.
So I reexamined the path and asked: What's limiting growth?
This is where I focus on testing and experimenting. I can always adapt and pivot.
Corporate mentality would tell you: "Be patient. Keep analyzing. Don't make quick decisions."
I'm not buying that.
Here's what I'm launching this week.
Two Big Shifts
Shift #1: I'm Done Convincing People Corporate is Broken
I spent a lot of time and energy trying to get people to take action.
Similar to when I made the decision to expand beyond GenX—this is another pivot.
My new focus: People who already KNOW corporate is broken or isn't working for them. I'm here to help them find the bridge out.
The data shows that 79% of corporate workers are burned out. But a large portion will never take action.
I'm not here for them anymore. I'm here for the people who are ready.
Shift #2: Two Membership Tiers
I realized that people still in corporate couldn't utilize the full value of The Collective. They're tied to full-time jobs—limited time, limited flexibility.
But there's a TON of value in providing a safe place for people planning their exit.
So I made the decision to offer two tiers:
Pre-Escapees: $15/month—focused on education and awareness (for people still in corporate, building their plan)
Escapees: $50/month—full access to live sessions, peer groups, expert office hours, etc. (for people actively building or already out)
Stay Tuned
You can stay tuned to see how this plays out.
This is the real-time experiment I promised you.
Patient with the process. Relentless with the execution.
