This Is The Escapee Insider is a weekly-ish newsletter focused on helping folks transition from corporate to Living Their Best Lives

Going solo doesn't mean doing it alone. The Collective is where you learn from people who are doing it and those who've already done it. Peer support. Real mentors. Future teammates and collaborators. Whether you're planning your escape, recently laid off, or already building—this is your spot. [Last chance to join for $20/month]

Think going solo is risky?

Corporate just laid off 5 million people last year.

Here are the 5 myths keeping you stuck—and the truth that sets you free.

Myth 1: "Going solo is riskier than staying in corporate"

The truth:

Your "secure" job can disappear tomorrow. Some algorithm. Some reorganization. Some quarterly miss.

And you have zero control.

Going solo? YOU control your income. You diversify your clients. You decide who you work with.

Corporate isn't safe. It just feels safe.

Myth 2: "You need to know how to sell"

The truth:

You don't need to "sell." You need to have conversations.

"Hey, I help companies with [problem]. Is that something you're dealing with?"

That's not sales. That's just talking to people about what you do.

If you can have a coffee chat, you can land clients.

Myth 3: "You don't have the experience"

The truth:

You have 10, 15, 20+ years solving problems in corporate.

THAT is your experience.

You don't need another certification. You don't need to "prove" anything.

You need to package what you already know and find people who need it.

Myth 4: "You need a business plan"

The truth:

You don't need a 40-page business plan.

You need three things:

  • What you're selling

  • Who needs it

  • How to reach them

The rest? You figure it out as you go.

Over-planning is just procrastination with a fancy name.

Myth 5: "You have to go all in"

The truth:

You don't have to quit your job tomorrow.

Start while you're still employed:

  • Build your network

  • Land your first pilot client

  • Test your offer

  • Save your runway

THEN make the jump when YOU'RE ready.

Going all-in is optional. Being smart about it isn't.

Which myth were (or are) you believing?

I believed #3 and #5 for way too long. Cost me years of staying stuck.

If you're planning your escape but don't want to do it alone—that's what The Escapee Collective is for.

Get Busy Living!
